Sendai Cricket
Sendai Cricket was formed in June 2007. The game of cricket is little-known in Japan, so we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to play the sport. We hope to use cricket to bring people together, no matter what their nationality. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise, make new friends and have some fun on the cricket field!
From the end of the 2010 season, the Sendai Cricket Club was renamed Sendai Cricket. Sendai Cricket now governs the Western Sendai Bulldogs Cricket Club (covering the west half of Sendai City and South Miyagi captained by Christopher Aiezza) and the Senseki Dolphins Cricket Club (covering the east half of Sendai and Northern Miyagi captained by Robert 'Bobby' Gold).
In Tournaments and Inter-Prefecture (Representative) games, we still play under the name of the Sendai Cricket Club.

Sendai Cricket History
Sendai Cricket was founded by Hall-of-Famer, Nigel Dixon and fellow Hall-of-Famer Chris Birchall in the summer of 2007. Birchall's sister Nicola was a member of the neighbouring prefecture's capital city Morioka's cricket club and the two men with three other people, and Englishman, Hall-of-Famer, Ewan Walton and two American's embarked on Sendai's first ever tour. At that time Sendai Cricket didn't even exist as yet, but now it is thriving giving both Japanese, cricket loving expatriates and those foreigners that didn't even know the first thing about cricket a chance to play the sport we all (now) love. Sendai Cricket was run by Nigel until mid 2009 and on his departure, Christopher Aiezza with the help of deputy-manager Robert 'Bobby' Gold took over the running of Sendai Cricket. The team won the third annual Tohoku Tournament in Morioka and is the clubs first Tohoku Tournament Win. Sendai Cricket representative team currently has series wins over the other Tohoku clubs, Morioka and Akita.
Our Logo
The club logo is based on Sendai's most famous historic figure, Date Masamune. He founded the city of Sendai and was the Lord of Sendai from 1600 until his death in 1636. He is well-known for the distinctive arc-shaped decoration on his helmet.
The Game of Cricket
Cricket is a team sport played with bat and ball. It is played by two teams with 11 players each. It was invented in England hundreds of years ago and has a long and rich history. It is often thought of as a quintessentially English game, but it is also played in many other countries around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India and many Caribbean countries.
